Automated Fruit Inspection Platform Increases Accuracy, Reduces Waste

Neolithics contact form

Neolithics has launched Neolithics LightTM, an automated, portable produce inspection system. The non-destructive technology eliminates inspection waste, improves productivity, and increases the volume of sellable product. The platform uses hyperspectral optics and AI frameworks to deliver previously unavailable insights including, but not limited to, nutrition levels, Brix sweetness, project shelf life, maturity, anomalies, and detection of different organic compound distribution both internally and externally. Current manual processes require destroying as much as 5 percent of an entire crop, with subjective measurements having an inaccuracy rate of nearly 30 percent. The Neolithics Light digitized system reduces inspection time by 90 percent and increases accuracy by more than 15 percent.

New Detection Tools for Pathogenic Bacteria in Poultry Production

contact@ancera.com

Ancera has released two new microbial detection tools designed to identify and enumerate Clostridium perfringens and total viable bacteria (TVB) in poultry. Ancera's TVB assay is the first true non-enrichment, microbial quantitation assay focused on same-shift process improvement and quality control at the plant. The tool provides quantifiable microbial information, enabling integrators to understand whether their processes are working to reduce microbial load. The new assay represents a significant reduction from traditional 48–72-hour turnaround times. Additionally, Ancera's Clostridium assay enumerates and monitors Clostridium perfringens, the causative agent of necrotic enteritis in poultry. The assay will help integrators to determine and track Clostridium load in their system, providing visibility of impact on key production metrics and animal health.

Smart Inline Pressure Measurement System for Beverage Inspection

Antares Vision Group contact form

Antares Vision Group has introduced a noninvasive, inline pressure measurement system providing reliable, high-speed inspection for beverages in glass and plastic bottles. Applicable for all transparent and semi-transparent bottles, the company's PCS700-IOT system utilizes Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) to precisely determine whether a container headspace has appropriate pressure levels. The result is accurate, non-destructive leak detection and process optimization for carbonated beverages like seltzer, soda and beer; nitrogen-dosed products such as water and teas; and hot-filled beverages including various juices. For the wine sector, PCS700-IoT enables the in-line oxygen measurement to evaluate the efficiency of the inertization process after bottle closing.

Detection via laser spectroscopy is significantly more precise than analog methods, meaning false rejects are substantially diminished. Moreover, the system can inspect containers inline without production slowdown, and can measure consistency regardless of the type of cap used. The unit's noninvasive nature promotes increased hygiene, and the module's minimalist construction is free of wear-down parts, leading to low maintenance requirements.

Rapid Lateral Flow Strip Test for Mycotoxins

Waters U.S.: +1 800-252-4752

Waters Corporation has unveiled its new Fumo-V™ ONE Strip Test from its VICAM™ portfolio, a quantitative lateral flow strip test to detect fumonisin and other harmful mycotoxins in finished animal feed and pet foods. Using a water extraction, Fumo-V ONE can detect fumonisin in the range of 0.5–30 parts per million (ppm) in less than ten minutes. The new strip tests enable aflatoxin, fumonisin, and deoxynivalenol to be monitored on-the-spot during feed production, moving quality management upstream and ensuring that products are safe to ship and consume. Fumonisin is one of the most prevalent mycotoxins worldwide, associated with life-threatening diseases in horses and swine, as well as esophageal cancer and liver and kidney diseases in humans.

First Metal/X-Ray-Detectable Plastic Blow Gun Enters Market

CJEN Industrial: +1 800-222-2356

CEJN Industrial Corp. has introduced the first-ever commercial metal- and X-ray-detectable plastic blow gun, the 208 Detect. Made from food-grade detectable plastic, 208 Detect and adheres to European Commission Regulation No. 1935/2004 and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations 21.170-199 standards.

Featuring metal-detectable seals and a stainless steel valve, the 208 Detect minimizes the risk of foreign body contamination. The blow gun is light, has high chemical resistance, and can withstand extreme temperatures. 208 Detect can be used for a variety of compressed air applications, including where a blow gun is used in close proximity with food during production: blow-off, air cleaning, drying (e.g., blowing food debris off equipment, conveyors, and drying of utensils), meat and dairy processing, food packaging, and vacuum sealing. 208 Detect complies with HACCP, IFS, and BRC procedures, ensuring safety and reducing the threat of costly recalls and product waste.

‘Do Not Refreeze’ Label

SpotSee, +1 800.846.2468

SpotSee has released its ‘Do Not Refreeze’ label to ensure food quality and safety throughout the supply chain and within commercial food environments. Once food has gone through a freeze/thaw cycle, the quality and/or safety of food can be compromised if it is refrozen. After placing the ‘Do Not Refreeze’ label on the packaging, if the temperature drops below –15 °C/5 °F, the text turns dark blue and alerts handlers that the product cannot be frozen again.

Metal-Detectable Safety Knives

MARTOR, +49 212.738.700

The SECUMAX 150 MDP extends MARTOR’s family of metal-detectable safety knives. The knives remain detectable if lost—even the smallest parts—and, therefore, have no long-term adverse impacts on sensitive production processes. Weighing only 31 grams, the SECUMAX 150 MDP is made of plastic that is metal- and X-ray-detectable. The SECUMAX 150 MDP is also safe when cutting. Its concealed blade means that the sharp cutting edge never gets too close to either its user or the packaged goods. The outer blade area, used for scraping off labels and splitting adhesive tape, is also non-sharp.
