Fresh Starts and Restarts

A warm hello to everyone in the food safety community from your new Editorial Director—or as we like to say in Texas: "Howdy, y'all!"

As of the time of publication, I've served as Food Safety Magazine's Editorial Director for a little under two months. In that short time, I've had the privilege of meeting and sharing ideas with a number of you—from distinguished experts in the industry and our outstanding Editorial Advisory Board members, to contributing authors and members of our readership. Your insights, guidance, and warm welcomes are sincerely appreciated, and will continue to be of value as I dig deeper into my new role. I've even been fortunate enough to speak with some of you in person—who thought the day would ever come!

On that note, I should add that we at Food Safety Magazine are beyond excited to announce that the Food Safety Summit will be taking place in person next year for the first time since 2019! The agenda is jam-packed with networking opportunities, workshops, education and general sessions, certificate/certification courses, a keynote, a town hall, and even a mock trial. Every session has been designed with your education, interest, and best use of time in mind—so please register today and join us May 9–12, 2022 for our return to Rosemont, Illinois.

As your Editorial Director, I look forward to serving you with my 17 years of experience in technical media, brand leadership, and publishing.
