So Long, Farewell, auf Wiedersehen, Good Night*

By the time you read this, I will have been gone from my position at Food Safety Magazine for several weeks. It has been my privilege to have worked with the many food industry professionals I have gotten to know over these past 13½ years (how time flies!), many of whom have become good friends.

The hard work of food safety continues, however, no matter who steers the ship. It is my hope that you continue to find value in the resources provided and that your passion for food safety and the desire to contribute in meaningful ways to the industry for the benefit of keeping food safe and protecting public health don’t wane.

Thank you for sharing your opinions, knowledge, ideas, and enthusiasm for food safety (and science!) with me, whether at a conference or by phone, email, Zoom, or text. A special thanks to my fabulous editorial advisory board: Together, we’ve identified the topics that the food industry needs to learn the most about and assembled leading experts to tackle those topics all while making the content relevant and educational. To my marvelous podcast guests: Thank you for your willingness to speak freely and provide your perspective on a variety of food safety issues.

While my next adventure has taken me out of the food safety arena, it has placed me squarely in the vastness of emerging technologies, some of which will undoubtedly advance the way food is produced and tracked and tested. I’m certain that our paths will cross again.
